Petrol Shortage in Ukraine -Driving to Ukraine

Gasoline/petrol shortages have been reported in some parts of Ukraine and the situation isn't likely to improve for a couple of more weeks. I would make sure that this won't be a problem before you start out. If you're not leaving until June or later, it (hopefully) will be OK. It's a long story about why there are shortages, but Russia has failed to ship some gasoline as expected due to "maintenance" on the pipelines. They also recently raised the price to Ukraine by a very large amount. Ukraine is seeking alternate sources of fuel, but this isn't supposed to start until early June. Petrol at this moment is about 3 Hyvna a liter (about 30p), if you are driving via Poland etc, fill up before you come through the borders.

Last summer however, there was a lot of building of new petrol stations going on in Ukraine so, but don't be sure that they have fuel at the moment, fill up when you can.
